May 2008 Chapter meeting

What: Appalachian Chapter of Trout Unlimited MeetingWhere: Greenway Farm off of Gann Store Road in HixsonWhen: Thursday, May15th, at 6:30 PMThis month’s meeting will be conducted by several of our members.  This will be especially fun for children and teenagers.  We will be providing free instruction in fly casting, rigging a rod properly, line mending, tandem rigging techniques, and how to read water.  Some contests are planned for casting with prizes, so you won’t want to miss this event.  Most likely we will also be demonstrating, but NOT teaching how to untangle your leader as well.  Please join us for some fun and make some contacts to plan your next fishing outing with a friend from TU.  Snacks and drinks will be provided.

CAHILL TIME ON THE TACCOA

A beautiful April 9th found Charles Bagley and I on the Taccoa near Blue Ridge, GA.   We had a dual purpose, to fish and to try to find access to a particularly good section of the stream.  The day was a success! I was throwing a Sage XP 3wt with a Lamson Force reel—a nice outfit for fishing dries on smaller streams.  Charles was using his 5wt Winston with an Orvis reel—a very nice outfit, nicely suited for windy conditions.

Tennessee Overhill Fishing Report, April 2008

  We now have a solid month of fishing under our belts. I am very happy to see recent rains to the area. All of our reservoirs are at or above desired levels for this time of year. We are also fortunate to have been spared the flooding rains that are occurring to our west and north. March provided very good fishing and April looks to be even better. All of the comments made on the March report are holding true. It can be viewed on our website : www.southeasternanglers.com. Here is a short update on what we are doing.
