What: Appalachian Chapter of Trout Unlimited March MeetingWhere:  Greenway Farm off of Gann Store Road in HixsonWhen: April 19th, at 6:30 PMDr. Bill Boyd, Sr., part of the Nick and Nack fly tying team has demonstrated fly tying to the chapter on several occasions over the years. This month, Dr. Boyd will diverge from his typical topic and will discuss rod building. His presentation will address the components and tools of rod building and will have demonstrations and examples of rod components in different stages of the rod building process. Be sure to join us on April 19th!

ROUGH RIDGE CREEK – MARCH 2007 STREAM OF THE MONTH

Abstract:  Rough Ridge Creek is a tributary stream to the Tellico River in the Cherokee National Forest (Big Junction Quad Map). It is easy to access from Forest Service trail 210G; brook trout become more abundant about a mile upstream.  There are no significant waterfalls but rhododendron does get thick in the upper reach. There are about 2 miles of fishable water with nice places to camp. The trail follows a gentle grade close beside the stream.

2007 Tellico Cleanup Summary

The annual Tellico River Cleanup was held on March 10th. This year 212 people participated from several states, including Colorado, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. 213 bags of trash were picked up on the Tennessee side of the cleanup and 2400 lbs on the North Carolina side. Thanks to everyone that helped. The preliminary date for next year's cleanup is March 8.
