In lieu of a meeting this month, the Appalachian TU Christmas party will be held at Charles Bagley's House on 14 December 2006. The event will start at 6:30 PM.  Charles will furnish some how finger foods i.e., Pigs in blanket, miniature kish, and drinks.  Bring a favorite desert or chip and dip if you like. From Chattanooga
Travel I-75 to Cleveland Exit 27(Fireworks Store Exit). Take Exit 27 ramp and go right at end or ramp onto Highway 64 East-Ocoee. Go 6.2 miles , exit right to Highway 64 East -Ocoee. Go 4.0 miles and turn left on Hancock Road at Ocoee Winery. Travel 3/4 mile to 4-way stop. Turn left at 4-way stop onto Old Parksville Road and proceed to the third driveway on the left. Charles's house is the chalet style house approximately 300 feet up this driveway.

From where Highway 60 crosses I-75 drive 4.3 miles and take the Highway 64 East -Ocoee exit. Travel Highway 64 East 4.0 miles and turn on Hanciock Road at the Ocoee Winery. Abstract:  Big Cove Branch is a tributary stream to North River in the Cherokee National Forest (Big Junction Quad Map). It is easy to access at the lower end but most of the brook trout are over three quarters of a mile upstream.  Getting back to your starting point on North River involves a long hike if you go above the waterfalls to catch brook trout.  The two major waterfalls on this stream are spectacular.  The stream recently underwent some rehabilitation which involved trimming the thick rhododendron to improve the stream flow and angler access.
 

ACTU has been asked to teach fly casting and fly tying at the Sportsman's Dinner at Wolf Creek Baptist Church in Dayton, TN on December 2nd. They want us to be ready at 2:00. If you can assist in this event, your help is needed. Here are directions:

From Chattanooga take Highway 27 North toward Spring City.  Approximately 16 miles North of Dayton, you will turn right on Highway 68 South toward Sweetwater. Go approximately 2 miles and you will see the Sportman Dinner signs on the left. Turn left at the convenience store/Wolf Creek Fire Department and  the church is about 1/4 mile on the left.
